Artist Statement

Whilst having been creative and surrounded by creativity all my life, I didn’t receive formal training until 2011-15. Since graduating I have continued to create and exhibit but have found opportunities limited, partially through:  living rurally, being a parent, working in ceramics and covering subjects that are unapologetically raw.

My ambition is to change the way the world perceives women and the way they perceive themselves. to encourage female agency and refute objectification.

I am interested in the extremes of the female experience from orgasmic bliss to domestic violence because this is my experience.

I must confess I remain a bit lost, standing on the brink of an art world I do not understand, my toes grip the edge and I cannot see my way.

I like my work to be touchable where possible, the be playful, questions seem more approachable when they are fun and tangible.

I have so many ideas, they sparkle before me, they fill books with scribbled ideas, sketched thoughts, a few get developed but I plan public art, small domestic pieces, gallery work, large pieces, intimate pieces, work commemorating the dead, damning the guilty, work that frees women from the fetters left by eras past, so many remnants hang around us, littering our lives with cramping limitations and I want to question the nature of obscenity, it shifts so. I want to question society for its attitudes.

I don't actually understand what "critical framework for your wider practice." sorry.
