Derek Eland is a multi-media artist whose work is about engaging with people in stressful and difficult situations about what it is like to 'be human'. The resulting installation is then re-contextualised in a gallery setting where audiences can record their own reaction to the work. His work uses handwritten responses as well as film, audio and photography.
Derek Eland has an MA in Contemporary Fine Art and was an official war artist in Afghanistan in 2011. The resulting work and installation has been described in the international press as 'groundbreaking'.
