Claire McDermott

London
I look for an intriguing element of the plant science of spent flowers.

McDermott multidisciplinary practice uses sculpture, print, painting and photography to link plants to the contemporary arts. My initial focus is on the individuality and asymmetrical contours of senescence in spent flowers. For her Master in Art and Science she read biophysics on the movement of air around a floating plumed seed. Taking these curiosities as an initiative she create a view to observe the irregularity and unpredictability of aspects of nature.
