Winchester Train Station Public Realm2019
Commissioned this year by Winchester City Council, this contextually based creative research project is to feed into the public realm design proposals currently being developed for Winchester Station public realm and station approaches. This is a public art project which sets out to celebrate the City of Winchester's rich history by examining its use of materials and decoration within its architectural legacy and landscape, particularly with an emphasis on Winchester Cathedral. As a Gateway to the City, the Station and its environment should give expression to what may be discovered beyond the Station. The Cathedral, for example cannot be seen by visitors arriving by train. This is still early days in research and concept development. No doubt this project will shape shift considerably along the way.
