Artist Statement

As an interdisciplinary artist Christina uses a variety of mediums; drawing, printmaking and, more recently three dimensional and relief forms. Working spontaneously, she creates embossed drawings and prints as a response to light, water, the skies and reflections. Her work is non representational, using layered forms and sometimes intensively worked surfaces. Rust, verdigris, silver and gold dust and leaf have made their way into these surfaces creating reflections that change with the light. Folding and pleating also has been used to create shadows and line can be read as shadow, shadow as line.

Working spontaneously, often responding to the materials, she creates embossed drawings and prints as a response to light, water, the skies and reflections. Her work is non representational, using layered forms and sometimes intensively worked surfaces. Rust, verdigris, silver and gold dust and leaf have made their way into these surfaces creating reflections that change with the light. Christina has exhibited widely since 2010.  Recent highlights include a solo exhibitions at Grafik I Vast, Gothenberg , Sweden 2020,  the National Original Print Fair 2019 and Linden Hall Winter exhibition 2019, 2021, the Affordable Art Fair Battersea 2019, and WCPF continuously since 2017. In 2016 she was invited to be Artist in Residence at the Ålgården workshop in Western Sweden and continues to spend time working and exhibiting there. 

Christina is a member of the Printmakers Council UK, Ålgården workshop in Sweden and Manifestampe in France. 

She was elected a Fellow of the  Royal Society of Arts in February 2018.

She exhibits regularly nationally and internationally and has work in the collections of the V&A museum London, The Fitzwilliam Museum, the collections of Scarborough Museum and Art Gallery and the collections of the NHS Hospital Trust, Greater Glasgow and Clyde. Internationally, her work is held in the collections of  the Västfastigheter Region Örebro Län Region, Södra Älvsborg Hospital (SÄS) Boras, Sweden.
