The work started as a way to deal with my personal experiences by using a phototherapy approach to photography. As the work developed it incorporated different styles and methods of photography to create palimpsests of imagery with numerous layers and depth to them. The works main themes are domestic violence, loss, isolation, mental illness and the effects that these have on the body physically and mentally. The works appearance is not the main focus it is more about the process that made each image and how this process helped to heal me and became my own personally therapy rather than be aesthetically pleasing for the viewer.
