Biography

Through an intuitive response to architecture and cinematic imagery I attempt to explore the ways in which we relate to imagery both as a singular representative object and as a pervasive decorative form in embellished textiles and ornamental interiors. Using traditional materials and processes such as print-making, clay sculpture and craft image-making processes I set in motion a reductive process whereby traces of any original source are lost. This process sets aside the conventional functions of image-making and asks the viewer to experience the image as an autonomous space made from pen, ink or clay. The end result, often a photograph, drawing or installation serves as a document of process, duration and materiality rather than a document of any real space or object. My current work attempts to extend the plain of the drawing into architectural space to enable the viewer to consider the drawing as a space which can be inhabited.
