Caroline Rudge trained as a painter, who fell into animation and has subsequently embraced it as a form of expression in her art. Her diversity has led to her designing animations for clients using mediums such as painting on glass, ‘Claymation’ and paper cut-outs, filmed using stop-motion.
Caroline's subversive and humorous portraits combine time honoured techniques with postmodern sensibilities. Playing with the notion of traditional portraiture, her striking paintings juxtapose the classic with the contemporary. Caroline's technical aptitude and thought-provoking imagery, combine to produce memorable and imaginative characters. Her recent still life paintings reference medieval icon paintings, with their jewel-like beauty and detail.
