Between 1922 – 1982, Louisa Cornford meticulously scoured the surfaces of the Hoo Peninsula, turning up materials and objects of intrigue; things that were evocative and imbued with data. In 1952 Louisa discovered a strange blackened, charred object in Grain Tower; a decommissioned gun emplacement just off of the shoreline of the Isle of Grain.

Falcini has negotiated to research the object on a casual loan agreement from the Hoo Peninsula Museum and is proposing to do a durational investigative series of drawings and artworks directly from the object in situ, in the gallery during the period of the exhibition. Through this intensive observational study, Falcini will negotiate the relationship of body to object, the transitional nature of the object through its journeys, its (harbouring of spirituality, re-visitation of the issue of the black spot).
