The visual narrative of my work is constructed by the subconscious dialogue between historical memory and the functioning of social structures. I explore a figure-space relationship, where the protagonists are placed into a contrivance, which exerts, or simply suggests, a power over their gesture. I play with notions of utopia vs. dystopia and reflect upon the relationship between architecture and political ideology. I try to direct the viewer into these reflections by methods of display, arranging my work into an environment that suggests a museum or architect's studio; an environment where form and structure is observed and manipulated to express well-calculated obstacles and interventions.
