We invite you to a subversion of the ubiquitous Fine Art Fair. Instead of selling artworks, we will be sharing ideas, processes and knowledge. This will clarify, raise awareness and validate our different ways of working in the largely rurally isolated West Dorset, East Devon and South Somerset. Connecting face-to-face will give us the opportunity to discuss what support is needed. Each person will have a 'stall' at which to present or provoke and the chance to tell it how it is. And there will be a provocation (Anna Best), a participatory performance (Sally Lemsford) and parleys (teasing out what, why and how). By the end of the day we will have gathered your suggestions for the next steps – maybe a network, car sharing away days, monthly face-to-face encounters, co-produced zines, collaborations across sectors, experiments, mentoring, even moments to play. We want to hear lots of different voices.
Date: Tuesday 16 October 2018
Place: WI Hall Bridport, North Street, Bridport, DT6 3JH (Exact directions and a list of car parks will be sent out when you confirm attendance.)
Cost: FREE, £3 donation for lunch, given on the day.
Bursaries: some available (to apply contact: firstname.lastname@example.org saying how much is required up to £50 per person + 100 words about why it would benefit you and how you would use it).
Facilitator: Sally Lemsford
Earlier this year Sally moved from the ex-coalfields of Derbyshire, to Bridport by the sea looking for new collaborative adventures. Making connections and adding value to the community is essential to her personally and to her critical engagement art practice. She uses everyday objects and participatory performance within the social context, to listen to different voices and offer people the opportunity to look afresh at their own space and lives – shared experiences of art as process, art as traces, art as intervention. t: 07974 785624 w: sallylemsford.co.uk e: email@example.com
