Children of Coventry - Suzy, 2019 by Charis Esther
* Work In Progress
'Suzy' is the first of a series of stitched portraits representing different individuals living in the City of Coventry.
Bint, 2019 by Rachel Doughty
This piece came about after I wrote a list of all the derogatory words that are used when either addressing or talking about women and then did the same for men; women;s list was a lot longer so using embroidery thread I carefully and with some anger and frustration, stitched some of these terms.
PYLON personal blog, 2019 by James Paddock
My new mixed media installation PYLON is a thought-provoking artwork that demystifies the lived experience of someone who has psychosis, a condition often misunderstood.
MERTHYR HAS AN IRON HEART, 2016-17 by David Appleyard
The iron heart from the iron bridge provides the perfect metaphor for Merthyr. It has a direct link to the days of the iron masters, it was originally cast in Cyfarthfa Ironworks using iron made in Merthyr Tydfil, it has a personal connection to Dic Penderyn and it has existed and become weathered throughout the last 200 years of Merthyr’s history. It is still here.
