About our Awards

At Axisweb we understand the difficulties artists face in maintaining and developing their artistic practice and careers. Whether through critical engagement, promotion, advice or the procurement of space, we are committed to supporting and nurturing the talent of artists across the UK. Often the most needed and transformative type of support is financial. With that in mind, we are proud to announce our AXISWEB AWARDS 2020.

Axisweb Awards 2020 is 100% self financed. This independence helps us support our members without the influence of external funding requirements. Our Awards 2020 are about space, time and funding to be ambitious, challenging, and supportive.

Axisweb Awards 2020 is an opportunity for our Members. In addition to financial support, we are also developing several exciting collaborations with other arts organisations in order to maximise the value of these awards to our Members. More information on each of these will become available as the year progresses, so make sure to stay tuned!

To reflect the diversity and idiosyncratic nature of artists practice we have split our awards into several streams. Throughout 2020 we will make announcements when each Award stream is open. Our Members will be the first to know!

Our decision making process

Detailed criteria are set out for each award stream on the relevant page.

All our opportunities involve a two-stage process of longlisting and shortlisting. The final decision will be made by Axisweb’s Trustees supported by the staff team.

Axisweb Trustees directly involved include Sara Martin (Head of Programme, Turner Contemporary), Holly Slingsby (Artist) and Fiona Grady (Artist).

For certain award streams we will involve independent advisors to help inform the decision making process. Independent advisors will be announced when an Award Stream opens.

We are also committed to:

  • Providing the necessary information to support your application

  • Transparency in the application and decision making process

  • Providing status updates at key milestones

  • Informing all applicants of the final outcome
