Out and Beyond: What to do next after graduation?
11am – 5pm Friday 13 September 2013, Cardiff School of Art & Design
An Axisweb symposium, in partnership with Cardiff Metropolitan University and g39
The year after graduating from your BA or MA can be daunting for emerging artists. It’s not obvious how contemporary art networks work and knowing what you should be doing to get your work seen and develop professional contacts can be challenging at best.
This professional development day offers practical hands-on advice to you about how to support your career as an artist once you have left university.
A mixed day of talks, presentations and surgeries, it will give a view into the professional life of artists and designer makers. They’ll be explaining what they do to promote their practice and career, as well as dishing out practical advice on establishing a web presence, writing grant applications and developing commissions.
Speakers include:
- Kit Poulson, artist
- Chris Brown, Co-director, g39
- Amanda Roderick, Director, Mission Gallery
- Emilia Telese, artist
- Phil Lambert, artist
- Shaun James, artist
- Lesley Guy, artist and Content Curator at Axisweb
- among others...

Participants in the programme will be at the symposium to talk about how this relationship has worked and what has happened in the year since they graduated.
