Call for Expressions of Interest:
Axisweb Art Map Wales Correspondents

We are looking for Axisweb members (artists, artist/makers, curators and other art professionals) to act as roving correspondents for the forthcoming Art Map Wales, which will profile contemporary art across the country.

We are looking to appoint commentators in four regions across Wales:

  • South Wales
  • West Wales
  • Mid-Wales
  • North Wales

who will write a commentary on artists, exhibitions, events, initiatives and news taking place in their region. We are looking for people who are embedded in their regional art community and can give a perspective that is informed, critical, entertaining and clever.

You must:

  • write well (in English) with an accessible and engaging style.
  • be active and engaged with what is happening in the contemporary visual arts in your region.
  • be comfortable on camera as we plan to make films in each region.
  • be able to deliver content on time, working to a deadline.
  • be nice, because we like to work with nice people.
  • be an Axisweb member, so join up now!

There is a fee of £250 for your initial commission which we will work with you on during June – August 2014. We hope this will become an ongoing relationship, and plan to develop the Art Map during 2014 and 2015 so expect to commission you in the future.

How to apply

Please send

  • a current CV
  • a sample of your writing (preferably a published piece)
  • no more than a page on why you want to be an Axisweb Correspondent in Wales (please make sure you state which region you will be representing)
