Axis is recognised as the leading online resource for contemporary art. You can browse most of the Axis website without becoming a member but you will need to sign up to experience a more personalised service.

There are two types of membership: Axis membership is free and available to everyone but you have to apply to become a Directory member and there is a membership fee.

Directory member (artists)
You must be an Axis member (see left) before you can apply to become a directory member. As a directory member you can present your work to an established audience of curators, artists, arts professionals, critics, commissioners, collectors, agents and art enthusiasts. Many artists establish that first contact or breakthrough through their profile on Axis.

You must be an Axis member (see left) before you can apply to become a directory member. As a directory member you will be more visible; raise the profile of your projects; network with other arts professionals and easily find artists to work with.

About artist and curator applications
Once you have become an Axis member you have the option to apply to be a directory member. To ensure that we continue to present work that demonstrates a critical engagement with contemporary practice, all applications are assessed by a curatorial panel. If you are an artist and / or a curator you should apply for either artist or curator directory membership in the first instance. You will have the option to upgrade to dual membership if your initial application is successful. There is a one-off upgrade fee of £10 if you have one membership and apply for another.
Cost
The annual charge for single membership is £25 if you are based in England or Wales and £50 if you are based elsewhere. Artists and curators who are not based in England or Wales have to pay a non-subsidised subscription fee. You can read more about this in our membership update.
These fees are for payments made online using your debit/credit card or by Direct Debit. For all other payment methods there is a £5 administration fee.
If your application is successful you will be required to pay the membership fee in advance to activate your membership.
Accessibility
