You are invited you to the Preview of artist Louise Winter's first Solo Exhibition Per Diem taking place on August 3rd 6-8pm at GreySpace Galleries, Melbourne Street Studios, Leeds. Would be great if you could make it!
“Per Diem uses the dead language of Latin, the language used for centuries to define, categorise, prescribe and monumentalise. Whereas most Latin mottos translate into aggrandising motivational sentiments, Per Diem is an empty phrase meaning nothing more than ‘by day’. This subversion is a keystone of Louise Winter’s work, reflecting the contrast and tension that she sees in the standard approach to the everyday. Louise’s art strips back the prescriptive context surrounding objects that we have forgotten how to see, if we see them at all, and in doing so she allows us to question our expectations. It’s an approach that Louise explores and develops day by day, diem per diem”.
