Sculpture and music performance event
6.30 – 8.30 pm
A changing installation of sculpture by Gillian Brent and live music by Platform 4, a group of contemporary composers. Drop in anytime during the performance, move around the space to view the sculptures as they are arranged and rearranged, and listen to new music inspired by them.
The collaboration between Gillian and the four composers is one of mutual response to spatial relationships, shape, balance, tension, phrasing, light and shadow. The works are essentially abstract yet with some elements of descriptive representation. The 30 or so sculptural components are constructed in steel and have some brightly coloured elements. The musicians will interact with the sculpture through sound and movement. Platform 4 will be performing much of the music for the event themselves.
Gillian Brent and the Platform 4 composers Jenny Jackson, Tom James, Chris Noble and Tom Owen are all based in Sheffield.
