Independent curator
'Aftermath' (Jam on furniture) by Diana Ali
I was born in Manchester and work as a visual artist and curator. My work involves participants' responses from the local to the global with my current projects exploring these concerns. I experiment with instructional methods and exchanges of dialogue. My research explores correspondence, dialogue and connectivity and, in turn, this extends to using curatorial strategies as an arts practice. As an artist I have exhibited in the TINAG Festival in London; as part of the Roaming Biennial in Tehran; Other Asia’s exhibition ‘ReDo Pakistan’ in Karachi, Pakistan, and my text work has featured in The Disarmory Newspaper, New York. My curatorial projects include ‘Olfaction’ in Durham; ‘Subversive Correspondence’, a touring exhibition in Bristol and London; and ‘Up & Coming’ at the CUC in Liverpool. I studied as an undergrad at Nottingham Trent University and completed a Masters at Sheffield Hallam Univerity in Contemporary Fine Art. I also work as a Fine Art lecturer and workshop leader.
