Susan Banks is based in Louth, Eastern
Susan Banks’ abstract oil paintings result from a labour-intensive repetitive process involving various sets of visual systems. Recent paintings explore and subvert the symbolic attributes of Baroque mirrors, sacred and profane, they adapt and modify their definition questioning what they reflect. They disrupt visual expectations of light source and transparency inviting scrutiny while intending to evade traditional narratives.
