James Lumsden is based in Edinburgh, Scotland
I create paintings from multiple translucent glazes of acrylic paint, the process being repeated layer upon layer until the painting begins to emerge. Arrived at by both chance and deliberation, the final painting reveals varying chromatic strata viewable through the translucence and depth of the work. I am fascinated by how light, depth and feeling can be rendered through process.
