Karen Babayan is based in Cumbria, North West
Themes of migration, displacement and diaspora are explored using a multidisciplinary and exploratory approach, addressed from a position that draws upon image-making, performative works and fictionalised text. Using personal experience and family history as a principal resource, the resulting artwork is responsive, creative and provocative, exploring the notion of ‘authenticity’ through facets of identity and dislocation.
