Artist statement

Concepts
I am inspired by the natural world, and my motivation is to express a sense of wonder through art. Details of plant, stone or water find their way into abstract paintings of deceptive simplicity. The landscape and skies of Britain in all seasons provide inspiration for atmospheric paintings. For me, Turner is one of the greatest painters of the experience of being within the landscape, creating a fusion of place and atmosphere through paint.

Processes and techniques
The main body of my work is in oils using a particular blending technique on carefully prepared canvas. I also work in mixed media.

Career path
I graduated from Central Saint Martin's in 1996. My studio work is my priority and my paintings are sold through a number of galleries. Having taught within community learning and for Junior Art Schol at Reigate School of Art and Design, I now teach a private mixed media class.
