Artist statement

I have been a photographer since the late 70s, and until enrolling for Sunderland University’s MA in Photography in 2007 was largely self-taught. I have a background in construction engineering which has informed my most recent body of work, ‘Lost Waltz’, but photographically have eclectic tastes and am essentially a portrait and documentary photographer.

I began exhibiting in 2003 and have since shown work in solo and group exhibitions in England and France. A founder member of photography collective Wideyed, I assisted in the planning, curation, marketing and production of the exhibition of Iranian photographer, Newsha Tavakolion. I printed her ‘Sisters in Chanel & Chador’ exhibition which was subsequently shown at Side, Newcastle, amongst other places.

I am currently based in the North-East of England.
