Artist statement

I am curious about how we value, occupy and dream about space, both physical and imaginary. A playful examination of urban, rural and domestic space has always been intrinsic to my practice. The situations i initiate and objects i make seek to heighten the relationship between the viewer and the viewed, the self and 'elsewhere' or 'other'. Offering adapted views, a shift in scale or a direct intervention, my intention is to invite a closer inspection or interaction. Romanticism, notions of omniscient perspective, surveillance, ownership and virtual space all inform my practice, and i hope to examine these conventions. I'm intrigued by unresolved desire for idealised, even mythological spaces and states, and the potential for wonder or disappointment in any given experience.
