Artist statement
Luke Elwes (b.1961, London) studied at Camberwell Art School (1983 - 85) and recently completed his postgraduate research at Birkbeck, London University. Elwes also a writes about contemporary painters for journals including Modern Painters, Royal Academy Magazine and Galleries magazine, and has helped organise exhibitions in public collections, including Kettles Yard and the Estorick Collection.
Recent solo shows include Art First, London and New York, Broadbent Gallery, London and Galerie Vieille du Temple, Paris. Group exhibitions include 'Mapping' at Bury Art Gallery, Manchester,2007 and 'Gli Amici Pittori di Londra', Galleria Ceribelli, Bergamo, Italy, 2007. In 2010 he participated in the survey show 'Another Country' at the Estorick Collection, London. Adam Gallery, London, will show his new work in 2011.
