Artist statement
ConceptsMy earlier works were centred around myths, folklore and landscape. I used colour in a bold and energetic way. My recent works in contrast use minimal and monochromatic colour; the pieces are large and assembled together. My ideas have changed and matured, I am now working from my own experiences and memories from childhood. I have become very interested in re-inventing memories through interiors and atmospheres as in the painting 'Memories of a Bridesmaid' and 'Interior Assemblage'.
Influences
Landscapes, experiences, travel, relationships. I enjoy the work of other artists who are developing their own personal language of symbols. Colours, themes using mixed media, experience and memory like Hughie O'Donoghue and Anselm Kiefer.
Career path
At present I am working at home from my studio, exhibiting locally. I would like to exhibit further a field and apply for residencies in this country and abroad in the future. I am open to commissions.
