Artist statement
Colour relationships - form and space - the whole and its parts - the sensorium.
Urban environments, real or filtered, provide the abstract elements and colours with which I order pictorial space. I trial many possible outcomes - working with various papers and tape on a prepared ground - before making the finished piece.
My aim is to achieve an equilibrium with the minimum of means. I want colour to show its relational suppleness and affective power.
Each work nudges on the next. And, from marshalling many small discoveries, images take hold.
Processes and techniques
I use Golden acrylics on canvas.
