Concepts
Be Van Der Heide works mostly in series. The images shown are examples of six different series. She travels (sometimes just to the local park) - looks - sketches and uses these images to paint mostly large work in her studio. Sometimes it is the landscape itself that inspires her, but mostly that which has been put in it by men. The "Owoos" where found in the grasslands of Outer Mongolia, the Tunnels where passed through on the way from Nice, to Genoa along the Mediterranean coast. The Lycian tombs series was conceived after a trip to the south coast of Turkey. The Insects series is totally based on mostly dried up found insects lying about. Several more recent series include Enfant Terrible, My Real Family and Dance of the transient forms
