Artist statement

My practice is based on the intimate relation between object, image and individual. My interest in the dialogue between memory and illusion is reflected in pieces of work that extract the everyday image into a new realm of beauty and fragility. Drawing, photography and installation are the main mediums of my artwork. Previous works have experimented with the dollhouse, the postcard and the souvenir. I am interested in the miniature and its possibilities for evoke a new inner space of daydreaming and contemplation. Taking on a more analytical approach, my practice undergoes a twist experimenting with the technological intermediaries for the creation of images such a night-vision goggles and CCTV cameras.

My latest work has been focusing on video and drawing to explore the notions of home and elsewhere, and what it might mean to be lost in between. The idea of journey, both mental and geographical, as a place it itself. Taking on the position of a traveller who observes the world from the safe distance of an endless wandering, neither here nor there. This work seeks to confront the fictional and elusive character of the familiar and the exotic.
