Artist statement
At the core of my interest is the enjoyment of disparity, discontiguity and the occasional brief failure of Gestalt mechanisms, and the quest to represent this in some way. I investigate ways of seeing, specifically with reference to cultural and paradigm disjunction, and embody these disparities in my working practice.
I work with video and in 3D, often mixing the two media to record a time limited installation or performance to camera. Recently I have been fascinated by the new genre Video Painting - a single take, unedited, non-narrative record of the purely visual with the intention of defeating one's need for rapid explanation and closure.
