Artist statement
My work deals with the notion of narrative and story telling and I have created a highly imaginary dreamlike world of fantasy that acts as a metaphor for the condition of the modern day. Time Disruptor Part 1 is the first ‘chapter’ of an on-going story. I am interested in the subversive nature of fantasy, fairy tales and science fiction. These fictional subversions seek to stimulate questions and perceptions of the everyday subjects that we forget to question: such as technological complexities and complexities between man and nature whilst still allowing the viewer to explore the idea of narrative through his/her own interpretations.
I work with the printmaking techniques of lithography, silkscreen and mono printing and painting with oils and mixed media. Drawing is also an essential part of my practise and will inform animation as part of the development of the Time Disruptor Part 2.
