I was commissioned by NGT Publications Ltd to author a book that puts into context the poetry, painting and photography of artists influenced by the rivers Dee and Don in Aberdeenshire.
Descriptions of the rivers Dee and Don require an array of other interrelated accounts. We might say that the apperception of these two great rivers and their influence is comparable to contemplating some richly adorned and elaborate fabric. Spectacular structures, significant lives, ancient stories and events are all woven into the pattern of such unique cloth. Journeys of natural and cultural grandeur unfold as we tug at selected strands of the material and then reveal its inspirational heart in poetry and imagery.
