A memorial for the insects that once animated the space, Lucas’ sculptural installation of bronze casts presents the viewer with a subtle history. The insects’ failure to escape from the room holds metaphorical resonance in relation to our own failures, hopes and desires.

This work was commissioned by Airspace Gallery for the Conjunction Biennial in Stoke-on-Trent. It was funded by Arts Council England, Stoke-on-Trent City Council and Staffordshire University.
