Flag tape (barrier tape), sticky tape, approx 1.5 x 0.7 x 14 m (5' x 2' x 46')

A site-responsive installation made during the Arreciado residency, Spain. This work makes a barrier on the almost invisible livestock fence. Each length had half the tape anchored and half the tape free. Wind lifted the tails, at times held horizontal, the flashing tapes appeared as a flow of water, a shoal of fishes, at other times flicking about like tails on the happy sheep and pigs (pure and free, eco sheep farm). In the morning and evening sun behind the tapes lights it up so it glows like a neon sign or florescent mark. From a distance the tape almost disappears, appearing as a blue haze floating in the air. In side view configurations the tape could appear as text, computer language or Cyrillic scripts. The blue colour linked with the blue skies and colour of the lake beyond harmonizing with its environment. The work was sited parallel to the stream on the opposite side of the field and from the rear, it echoed the shape of the long low farmhouse building.
