Susan Williams MRBS

Artist, Curator, Project manager, Arts development worker, Teacher

I work with site responsive installation, video, photography and print. My work takes the form of energy fields unexpectedly made visible, with a core theme of renewal, at times relating to environmental issues and urban landscape. I make work as a response to the physical nature of a location and develop ideas and associations as the work progresses. The space and light around the work are very important and have a defining influence. My aim is to make what is already there more visible, at times capturing what we don’t normally see, light, wind, space, the potency of a colour. Illusions such as floating and evanescence reoccur in my work making further links to magic and the metaphysical. I usually use materials linked to the everyday and I am inspired by ordinary life and the need to find meaning in our lives.
