Mysteries Three
2016This is the third of a series of paintings following a visit to the archaeological sites around the Bay of Naples and a startling and stimulating encounter with Roman Painting in situ. I find that damaged surfaces become a type of alluring aesthetic form in its own right. This painting plays with patchy and apparently faded surfaces of different textures and visual planes. It includes suggestions of pre-Albertian perspectives and borders, frames and mosaics.
