Having worked on a wide range of permanent Public Art projects, Steve brings a lively imagination and a singular aesthetic to each commission he is involved in.
Each site has demanded very different responses, so that artworks often use different materials and industrial processes.
Steve combines his own artistic concerns with these individual challenges to produce striking and innovative artworks. Two recent examples are a large two part sculpture for a new Sainsburys store in Bristol (2011) and a permanent Art Trail for the Forest of Dean (2012).
He is based at Spike Island Artist Studios (UK) and alternates commissions with producing smaller artworks that through their experimental nature feed back into the public projects.
Recent influences have involved Bunker Archaeology, Model Villages and Airship / Train accidents.
His extensive CV illustrates a wide range and depth of experience working with a variety of materials and processes, controlling each part of each project, ensuring the success of the outcome.
Stephen is a Visiting Lecturer at Degree level and also collaborates with other artists and designers on a variety of ongoing initiatives.
