    Artist Statement

    Arising from her response to the past and to the present, Sonia Martin's subjects are a merging of the here-and-now and the world of the imagination.  She is interested in Medieval imagery, and artists such as Sassetta, William Blake, Stanley Spencer, and Alex Katz. She has exhibited widely including at the Royal Academy, the Barbican, and Long & Ryle Contemporary Art. Her work is in public and private collections in both the UK and abroad.

    CV & Education

    A recipient of a Pollock - Krasner award, British artist Sonia Martin is a member of the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers and she has exhibited widely both in the UK and abroad. Recent shows include the London Art Biennale where she received an Exhibition Award.  From her studio in London she works primariliy in painting, etching and monotypes. She has been awarded a number of international artist residencies and her work is held in many private and public collections.
