A stitched drawing of HMS Gannet on silk organza, overlaid a pencil drawing of Port Suakin on white cotton.
HMS Gannet is a ship which was stationed at Port Suakin in Sudan in 1888 supporting troops fighting with the British and Egyptians against Sudanese forces. This ship is now preserved at Chatham Historic Dockyard in the UK. Port Suakin however is in ruins. Port Suakin was a beautiful medieval town built from the coral on which it sat.
