Richard Glynn

Darlington

I have been a photographer since the late 70s, and until enrolling for Sunderland University’s MA in Photography in 2007 was largely self-taught. I have a background in construction engineering which has informed early bodies of work such as ‘Lost Waltz’, but photographically have eclectic tastes and am essentially a portrait and documentary photographer. I began exhibiting in 2003 and have since shown work in solo and group exhibitions in England, France, Bulgaria, Sweden, Poland and Johannesburg. I am a founder member of photography collective Wideyed and have undertaken projects and residencies with other members in the UK, France, Bulgaria and Johannesburg.

I work in various mediums and formats using analogue and digital equipment. I prefer using medium or large format cameras with film or paper as a photo sensitive medium. More recently I have been hand making books and incorporating photographic elements into metal sculptures though I have also experimented with soundscapes.

I am currently based in the North-East of England.
