Peter Ainsworth

Peter Ainsworth's practice focuses on traces of human activity within the landscape. His photographs often depict physical marks made by unconscious interactions and sculptural forms recontextualised within the frame of the image. What unifies Ainsworth practice is a concentration on sites that are in flux. His working method is to use the landscape as a studio space where he is able to explore, document and perform. Through this methodology the sites chosen have a ritual significance for the artist. Peter's series Covered, 2009 was selected for Rhubarb-Rhubarb's Hungry Bursary and subsequently exhibited at Wolverhampton City Art Gallery. He received the Pavilion Commission 2008 and has exhibited at Format 09, Alternative Arts Photo-Space and Brighton Photo Fringe 09. In addition Ainsworth is a lecturer in photography at Nottingham Trent University. read full statement
