Oona Culley

By tracing shadows, reflections or the absences left by old presences, I create illusory paintings and installations about perception, memory and time. There is a sense of presence and absence, seen and unseen, and a reflection upon the ephemeral and transient. Past and present are seen side by side; what is lost or forgotten gains visibility; or what is fleeting or transitory is captured. Working from the natural elements of light and shade, reflections on water, the tide, puddles, trees, leaves, windswept or foggy landscapes, our connection with nature is explored. read full statement
