Dr. Megan Smith is a new media artist with a PhD in Contemporary Art and Graphic Design from Leeds Metropolitan University. Her research probes new systems for delivering syndicated data through narrative structure and she often works with geo-location, digital print, video, installation, and community projects as methods for storytelling. Her work was included in Making Spaces, The Works Art & Design Festival, Edmonton, (2015), 'Electronical Conversations', La Panacée, Montpellier, France (2013) and Electric Fields, Ottawa, Canada (2013). She is Creative Director and curator of Nuit Blanche Ottawa+Gatineau, a Contemporary Art event which annually hosts over a hundred different artists and is attended by approximately 20 000 smiling people each year. She was Critical Resident Blogger for Artengine & Apt613 in 2012, where she wrote about creative practice that exists within the hybrid space between art, technology and science. Smith is based between Regina and Ottawa, in Canada and she is Assistant Professor in Creative Technologies at the University of Regina.
