Concepts Simplicity, grace, poise. Clean, fluid contours flow throughout Martyn Pugh's silverware. His interest lies in giving each piece harmonious balance, not only to the eye but also to the hand. "I make objects of beauty for people to use, function and mechanics being of equal importance to line and form". He uses fine engineering with careful detailing to achieve this end. These qualities are also evident in his jewellery where he frequently combines coloured precious metals and stones.Influences Aesthetic/Formal Concerns, Architecture/Urban environment, Science/TechnologyCareer path An MA Silversmithing graduate from Birmingham in 1976, he established his workshop in Worcestershire, where he works to commission and develops his collections of silverware and jewellery that are sold internationally.
