Mark Maxwell

Concepts The art of Mark Maxwell is created through the inspiration of the alchemical process. His canvas is copper metal, thin sheets which are heated and beaten over various surfaces. Details are replicated within the copper as it bends and stretches within the groves and cracks. The copper is then transformed using oil paints, pigments and chemical patination. His works are in private collections and institutions including National Australia Bank and Liberty Reinsurance, Smithkline Beecham, Lexington Metropolis, London, GPS Maidenhead, One Aldwych, NMB Heller, RPS Consultancy, Serono Pharmaceuticals, Jones Lang La Salle and The Royal Palace - Riyadh.Influences Ancient cultures/myths, Spirituality/Religion, Iconology, Archaeology, Alchemy,Career path 2004 Site-specific painting/sculpture for outdoor environment, Brewhouse Yard, London 2003 Site-specific sculpture - aluminium, LED lighting, etched glass - commemorative commission, British School for the Performing Arts read full statement
