Louise Cattrell

London
The sensibility we use to explore landscape as an ideal, a place of imagination and fantasy is combined with my direct experience of the natural landscape. This dichotomy between experience and imagination has been central to the development of my work . Direct connection and knowledge of landscape reacts to the spectacular changes within the timescale of day, season and year. The importance of physical scale from the limitless infinity of the sky to the enclosure of forest and wood ,the eye moving from the panoramic to that of close scrutiny. This has particular resonance where the borders of sky, land and river converge and depart. Living and working in new and known places has formed the context for paintings in oil and watercolour ,drawings and prints. strong>Influences Aesthetic/Formal Concerns, Landscape Areas of work Exhibiting Lecturing Residencies Collections Scottish Arts Council, Collection Gracefield Permanent Collection, Dumfries Phoenix Assurance Company, Tel Aviv Coopers and Lybrand Deloitte, London Frances and Denise Booth Ministry of Defence, Whitehall, London Reuters
