Linda Norris

Artist, Maker, Arts development worker, Community worker

For the past 21 years I have painted the landscape of Pembrokeshire. In the last 7 years I have begun exploring glass as a medium and have begun making conceptual pieces in response to historical and poetic stimulus as well as to landscape elements.

I completed a B.A. (Hons) in Visual Art at University College of Wales, Aberystwyth. From graduating in 1978 until I moved to Pembrokeshire in 1993 I worked as a community artist facilitating arts activity with a wide range of people defined as having special needs across Wales and in London and the South East. I undertook many residencies in schools, hospitals and probation units etc. Alongside this work I continued to exhibit my own work.

In 1993 I came to Pembrokeshire to concentrate on my own studio practice. Since 1998 I have run my own gallery showing my own work here in Pembrokeshire and online. In 2012 I won the international Warm Glass Prize (Bullseye Category) for my piece, 'Her House is Air'. In 2013 I won the Adrian Henri Poetry in Art Prize.

I have undertaken a number of architectural glass commissions with glass artist, Rachel Phillips. We have made windows for Conwy Castle and, most recently, for Family Housing Association (Wales) sheltered housing scheme in Pembrokeshire.

I am currently preparing to start work on 'ob•serve', a residency at Skokholm Island Bird Observatory.
