I was born in 1975 in Lincolnshire, England, and relocated to Derbyshire as a teenager. I am now settled with my family on the edge of the small town of Belper, on the doorstep of the beautiful Peak District National Park.

I sketch a lot from life and on location, and paint both en plein air and in my studio. I love using oil paint as it offers such tactile, luscious and vibrant working properties which help me create the lively and impressionistic results I strive for in my little paintings. I can apply it in thin washes or thick layers, scratching and drawing into the wet paint to create expressive and interesting marks and textures. The result is paintings full of life, light and colour.
