The combination of pattern and representation has developed in my studio painting practice. Bringing historical events together, through collaged constructs, using a painterly Trompe Loeil style is evident in some paintings. Photographs and tabloid images in their original and often monochromatic format , sometimes from a past era, are re-worked a various and diverse surface of vintage fabric, used as a canvas on a traditional frame. The fabric is used as a nostalgic tension, visible and receding, focusing and dissolving; a metaphor for faded memory. read full statement
